A note from the founder…
Hi! I’m Poonam.
Here’s a little story of how I landed in the big fat world of weddings and events. It was not always about glam parties and events with me. In fact, the complete opposite!
After losing my mother to ovarian cancer in 2010, I realized how precious and short life really is. So at the age of 30, I decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a scientist to follow my dreams in the creative industry.
The Maharani Diaries initially started off as a South Asian wedding blog, created to make the wedding industry more representative of the wider Australian society. Little did I know that 5 years later, I would have my design work published in local and international publications and appear on webinars discussing diversity and inclusion in the wedding industry. My journey in this industry has been so rewarding. From blogging to volunteering, working in hospitality, and interning with wedding and event planners to now helping couples on their wedding planning journey, The Maharani Diaries is the culmination of everything I believe in.
I want to dedicate this journey to my late mother who was and always be an inspiration to me. Finally, I’m doing what I love Mum!
What your wedding means to me…
Today’s modern South Asian couple are fashion-forward, confident and sophisticated. They embrace glamour, elegance and love and we want to guide them every step of the during their wedding planning journey.
I take every celebration pretty seriously. Which is why I value getting to know each and every couple and their families too. After all, South Asian weddings are all about family.
Your wedding is a celebration of your lives and so rather than making it seem like a chore, I’m going to help you have fun along the way. Think of me as your personal wedding planning assistant!
My mission is to empower you to follow your dream wedding vision for a breath taking celebration which truly reflects your personality.
