Christmas Cake Decorating Workshop with Oh That Be Good

Christmas Cake Decorating Workshop With Oh That Be Good

Christmas has always been a special time for my family and me. Growing up in Australia, it meant indulging in the best seafood offerings, traditional turkey and pancakes for breakfast.

I also loved to bake with Mum. We would cook up a storm and whip up the most magical desserts or cakes from the Australian Womens Weekly Christmas edition magazines.

As some of you may know, I am a food tragic and a sweet tooth. Over the years I have participated in a number of workshops, including a macaron making class with Pierrick Boyer, cupcake decorating at CAE Melbourne and now I get to boast about completing a cake decorating class with the incredibly talented, Afra of Oh That Be Good.

Launched earlier this year, Afra’s ‘In Good Company’ cake decorating workshops are such a thrill to be a part of.

Designed to celebrate cakes and connect with fellow cake lovers, her workshops are not only informative, but so much fun! Good vibes all around.

Last month I took up the challenge and ventured out to Hornsby to partake in Afra’s Christmas themed workshop.

As a result, I created a magnificent reindeer masterpiece (thank you Afra for helping out with the icing).

My gingerbread/chocolate layer cake was filled with crumbed oreo biscuits, freeze-dried berries, pistachio and pretzel, topped with beautiful edible flowers from Hidden Valley Harvest and unique custom cake toppers from Delight In Me Designs. Yummo!

Other participants created white chocolate frosted cakes with elf toppers, whilst some opted to purely decorate with macarons and the edible flowers.

The morning was delightful. So many conversations had around the table about cake and food of course. To top it off, we were all treated to a wonderful spread supplied by Lions In The Wind.

2020 proves to be an exciting year for Afra and her business and we can’t wait to work with her on future collaborations, including more quarterly events and bridal shower workshops.
