It’s not often that we get to share a celebration quite like today’s epic Punjabi wedding in Melbourne!
Bhavna and Jasmeet’s epic 5 day wedding festivities took place across four beautiful venues, including a colourful sangeet at the historical 19th century homestead, Rippon Lea Estate.
As you are about to see, every occasion was organised to the tee and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Let us take you on a journey with our maharani bride, Bhavna.
Go Goa Gone!
It all started in Goa when Bhavna and Jasmeet attended a musical festival.
I told you it was going to epic!
“Jasmeet and I met 5 years 4 months ago in Goa. We attended a music festival together with a few friends and travelled across India. As we travelled through Goa, Mumbai, Delhi & Rajasthan we got to know one another and slowly started to enjoy one another’s company. Our liking for each other developed when we came back home to Melbourne. Jasmeet was kind enough to bring my extra luggage from all the shopping I had done while travelling in India (I was clearly over the standard 32kg and 7kg baggage allowance). So, I organised a coffee catch up and also needed to collect my luggage. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other when we met. The attraction and chemistry was unstoppable and the rest was history!!”
“Jasmeet proposed to me on 10th December, 2016 at Werribee mansion. He had organised a day out at the mansion with spa treatments, champagne and strawberries on arrival and dinner at Joseph’s. The magical moonlight proposal took place with our favourite songs playing in the background. He showered me with love and shared the journey of our relationship in a personal journal.”
A Royal Affair
As bride, Bhavna so aptly puts it, their epic 5 day Punjabi wedding in Melbourne was full of madness, laughter and liver damage!
The couple opted for a royal and sophisticated style for all the wedding events and the results speak for themselves with thanks to Manav from Baqdrop’s, gorgeous photographs.
Festivities began with the traditional haldi and mehndi ceremonies with both sides choosing to host everything outdoors. Absolutely loving the summery vibe of their pre-wedding functions with both bride and groom, brimming with excitement.
It sounds like, Bhavna was the one who was responsible for making most of the decisions for their 5 day extravaganza.
“Jasmeet was way to busy watching his cricket up until the wedding day too! ESPNcricinfo needs to be banned! I was quite articulate and knew what I wanted for the wedding. I had a lot of support from my sister and family to get this 5 day event on the go, smoothly. Groom’s side of the family was equally as supportive and organised their events well too. It was a good team effort.”
Both sangeet party functions were again incredibly colourful affairs with luscious floral décor, swish signage and a super cute bangle cart! Bhavna’s lavish cocktail affair was hosted at the exclusive, heritage-listed venue of Rippon Lea Estate, whilst groom, Jasmeet’s was held in the Yarra Valley.
For the wedding day, traditions were observed at the Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha in Melbourne’s South East. This was followed up with a classy reception party extravaganza.
And how else does a Punjabi wedding in Melbourne end off? With an epic first dance compilation of course. The couple closed their reception in Bollywood fashion with a mix of ‘Kabira,’ ‘Taki Taki,’ ‘Moorni’ and ‘Balle Balle’ by Gurdas Maan.
Shop Till You Drop
Bhavna describes her shopping experience in India slightly challenging with the traffic being the main problem.
“Yes, there are always challenges when you’re shopping in India. Major one is Delhi traffic – takes ages to get from point A to point B. No one 100% delivers on time and dealing with “Delhilites” isnt easy!! On the whole, it worked out as planned. I was very happy with all our final looks for the wedding.”
All bride and groom’s outfits were purchased in Delhi. As a result, Bhavna looked resplendent at her Punjabi wedding in Melbourne. She wore a stunning heavily embroidered velvet lehenga by Bani Batra with the dashing groom complementing her in Rohit Bal ensembles.
We Are Family
This wedding was truly a family affair with both Bhavna and Jasmeet’s sides contributing a lot of time, money and efforts into making their fairy-tale wedding come to life.
“My sister, brother-in-law and family friends helped out tremendously with the wedding and the final execution of all the events. We used to have so many catch-ups and WIP’s to see our progress. I’m so lucky to have such a great support system and positive people in my life. Means a lot to me!! Jasmeet’s side looked after his events.”
Memorable Moments
A memorable wedding is made all the more special when you experience all the highs and lows with your closest family and friends. For bride, Bhavna, she expressed a lot of gratitude toward her family, thanking them for making her dreams come true.
“Every moment was enjoyable and memorable. From the dance rehearsals, to dress fittings, experiencing the lows and highs with family, the back and forth with my partner, but in the end it’s all worth it. I had a dream wedding.”
Manav of Baqdrop captured all the special moments from Bhavna and Jasmeet’s Punjabi wedding in Melbourne, so beautifully. Bhavna had high praise for him and his team and we’re so thrilled to be the first wedding blog to feature these gorgeous photographs!
Keep Calm and Carry On
After this epic celebration, the couple headed off to South America for their honeymoon adventures.
It seems that the secret to the success of their wedding was to clearly keep calm under the wedding planning pressures. Bhavna had a simple one line piece of advice to share with all couples who are in the early stages of planning.
“Stay calm, it will all fall into place.”
Thank you so much to Bhavna for sharing all the beautiful details from your Melbourne wedding. Congratulations to you and Jasmeet and we wish you all the very best!
