Introducing Kiran Lally of Couture Mantra - Melbourne Indian fashion designer - The Maharani Diaries

You could say for us Aussie-Indian brides, we are fairly limited with choice when it comes to high-fashion Indian couture. We either have to turn to online shopping book a flight to India. I suppose you really have to turn to social media sometimes to discover what hidden talents are out there. I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across young designer, Kiran Lally’s Instagram account a few years back. The first thought that sprung into my mind was, “wow, an Indian fashion designer in Australia!”

Kiran Lally is a young architecture student cum – fashion designer who hails from Melbourne, Australia. It wasn’t until a trip to India that Kiran decided that she wanted to start designing bespoke Indian clothing.

With over 6 years of design experience, Kiran was Australia’s first mainstream Indian fashion designer in Australia, bringing a refreshing modern perspective to the market. ‘Couture Mantra’ launched in 2013 and introduced Kiran’s foray into the Australian fashion industry.

Kiran is an incredibly ambitious and determined young woman who is eager to showcase her designs on a bigger platform. Over the past 4 years she’s dressed Esha Deol, influential Indian fashion bloggers and been invited to showcase her collections at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and charity event, Fashion Aid.

The Couture Mantra philosophy is all about maintaining high quality and creating exquisite high fashion by using rich textures and fabrics. Kiran believes in moulding traditional design aesthetics with refined modern techniques. Her designs adopt superior tailoring techniques including intricate cuts and delicate hand embroidery.
