Tell you what, if I had a chance to turn back time I would have definitely chosen the beautiful Pink City of Jaipur as the backdrop for my wedding festivities.
Today’s wedding may give you the exact same feels. Held at the majestic Indiana Palace, Nupur and Saurabh always envisaged having a vibrant, royal Rajasthani wedding in the pink city.
The couple combined the rich vibrancy and culture of Rajasthan throughout the entirety of their wedding. From the disco themed sangeet, to an epic holi themed haldi function, and finally an opulent wedding and reception, we are so in love with the colour!
Audi Manage That?
Work colleagues, Nupur and Saurabh sealed the deal in Hyderabad a few years back when Nupur hinted that she was a massive fan of Audi cars. To her surprise one night, Saurabh organized a very romantic evening involving; you guessed it, an Audi.
“One evening Saurabh called and asked me to get ready within 15 minutes. I had told him once that I wish I had an Audi. So, that same night, he booked the exact car of my dreams and there was a very romantic setup on the rooftop. He went down on his knees and every moment after that was it was just magical.”
Rajasthan is the land of royalty and a state that celebrates colour like no other. So it comes as no surprise then, that for maharani bride, Nupur and her sweetheart, Saurabh, the colour palette shaped all of their events.
The feeling of getting married in the palace of their dreams made them feel only like royalty.
Nupur describes the mehndi function as “khush rang heena,” translating to “burst of colours.” A “palette of passion” with a space filled with the colours of Rajasthan.
“We wanted to have an authentic touch with traditional accents, painting the venue in the happiest shades of love with colourful birdhouses, puppets, and handicrafts.
Our décor was folksy with low floor seating. We used lots of Bandhani printed drapes, large clay pots, vases, clay wind chimes, wooden figurines and sculptures.”
There were traditional bride versus groom singing competitions, with the show-stopping, bridal party winning all the way.
The couple’s disco themed Sangeet party, aptly named “Kisi Disco Mein Jaaye” looked like an absolute blast and featured a smashing solo performance by Saurabh!
“We waned to keep the royal vibe of the wedding and so the main hall of the palace was filled with elegant decor in white, silver crystals and powder blue. One of the highlights was Saurabh’s surprise performance on the song Khalibali. It was a huge hit!”
The Haldi party was a riot with the couple making a grand entrance in a cute as scooter. Nupur expressed a lot of love for this event. The “Rang Barse Haldi” themed occasion combined the haldi with holi featuring colour bombs and petals.
“We had friends and family joining in to create an incredibly vibrant and funky Holi-Haldi party! There were flower petals, colour bombs and so many elements to get the party started.”
Nupur and Saurabh naturally looked like royalty on their wedding day. Guessing that Saurabh, being a huge Ranveer Singh fan, came up with the reception title called “Band Baaja Baarat.”
Nupur mentioned that lavish, elegant wedding décor is the hallmark of a royal Rajasthani wedding and the royal elements were translated in to the wedding ceremony and reception.
Her grand entrance was made in a palanquin adorned with rani pink florals and she looked absolutely stunning beside her dashing groom.
We adore the garland exchange against the backdrop of the stunning Rajasthani palace.
The Maharani Bride
Nupur was every bit the maharani bride for all of her functions.
She was all praise for her designers who made her look like a princess for her royal Rajasthani wedding.
Once again, all of Nupur’s outfits were selected according to the theme. Colour played a significant aspect. On her wedding day itself, she opted for a gorgeous vibrant pink lehenga, which tied in perfectly with Saurabh’s beige sherwani.
“I used all soft colours like white, pink, peach or pastel to complement the wedding décor.
For the mehndi function, I always wanted a simple and elegant outfit and so when I saw this dress, I was mesmerized.”
“Siddharth and Disha were the designers who worked day in and day out to bring my larger than life ball gown to actuality for the Sangeet party. They never failed to impress me, from the design process to what they delivered, It is a great place to shop for beautiful bridal outfits.”
“Finally my Haldi outfit was quirky and colourful. My friend Priyanka stitched it so beautifully. I loved it so much and wanted to wear it over and over again.”
Nupur went on to say that her wedding day lehenga held a very special place in her heart, with emotions of tradition and elegance attached to it.
“With all the eyes on you on your big day, of course, the pressure builds up to find that perfect dress which makes you feel the most beautiful in.
I travelled a lot in search of that perfect outfit only to end the search in Delhi at the Raghav Creations store.”
Groom, Saurabh invested a lot of time on designing his outfits.
“Saurabh’s outfits were all designed by himself. He is a big Ranveer Singh fan and decided to go for quirky and fun outfits.”
The couple’s parents showed their support from the beginning, helping Nupur and Saurabh plan every aspect of the big fat royal Rajasthani wedding.
“I enjoyed each and every bit of the wedding. From the tightly packed shopping experience in Chandni Chowk for a week, to exploring locations for our wedding. It was perfect.”
Nupur also remembers the special moment when she first locked eyes with Saurabh at the mehndi party. Caught in the moment, they just wanted to embrace each other and hug.
The couple’s first dance, which comes as no surprise, was Pehli Baar from the movie “Dil Dhadakne Do.”
Advice for the Future Couple
The couple had quite a few helpful hints to share with brides and grooms, including being on time before every event to ensure that you enjoy all functions to the fullest.
Nupur also suggested having your bestie beside you, especially when you’re getting ready.
Perhaps the best piece of advice was to not forget to capture photographs with the family.
“Make sure you click photographs with your family because that’s what you are looking for in the end. For a bride, it’s important to have pictures with Mom, Dad and siblings for each and every function.”
Some sound piece of advice there Nupur and Saurabh. Thank you so much for sharing your utterly beautiful royal Rajasthani wedding.
