Threads Event | The Maharani Diaries

It’s been a non-stop couple of months here at The Maharani Diaries with a jam-packed calendar of incredible fashion and wedding related events and there’s no slowing down.

A few months back, I had the pleasure of attending a uniquely different fashion event organised by Sita Shah and Anjli Shah of S9 Muses.

Until recently, sourcing fashionable and affordable Indian designer wear in the UK has been somewhat of a challenge.

‘Threads’ is a one of a kind trunk show where like-minded creatives come together to offer bespoke Indian fashion to shoppers who don’t normally have access to certain brands.

Organisers, S9 Muses are curators in fashion collaborating with new age fashion designers whose collections reflect their individual personalities. On this occasion, S9 Muses joined forces with designer, Jyoti Chandhok and stylist/blogger, Mandavi of The Red Notebook to present a beautiful collection of outfits and accessories suitable for the modern Indian woman.

Sita and Anjli have always had an eye for the latest trends in South Asian fashion. Through events such as Threads, they are able to handpick exquisite and timeless pieces to add character to your wardrobe. They are both incredibly passionate about hand woven designs and embroideries and love to showcase emerging designer talents. Their impressive designer catalogue features timeless and authentic handcrafted pieces from the likes of Raw Mango, ILK, Priya Chhabria and Ka/Sha.

It was such a delight to have also had the opportunity to be introduced to Jyoti Chandhok. Jyoti’s self-titled brand signifies an eclectic fusion of traditional charm and contemporary couture. Her passion for textiles is translated beautifully in her designs. Meticulous craftsmanship is just one of the hallmarks of her line. She sources her fabrics all across India and can custom design an outfit according to your individual styles and tastes, whether it’s for the bride or groom, bridal party or any occasion for that matter. Although Jyoti Chandhok primarily provides commissioned items, a line of ready-to-wear individual pieces are also available at her boutique.

Held at the picturesque Moor Park, shoppers were treated to an array of designer clothing as well as beautifully handcrafted, statement jewellery pieces from Aditi Amin and House Of Wandering Silk.

The Moor Park mansion made for the perfect backdrop. This inspired talented photographer, Farrukh of Implausible Blog to hold an impromptu photo shoot featuring the beautiful Arti of My Asian Wardrobe. Arti looked stunning in her one-off Jyoti Chandhok ensembles and the overcast weather beautifully captured the mood.

The style workshop held by Mandavi was an added feature on the day, inspiring attendees with her modern takes on sari draping as well as sharing her unique styling tips. A particular highlight of the session was her clever take on east meets west with the half drape sari look.

The Threads trunk show was held in association with Tamasha Theatre Company, Britain’s foremost touring theatre company producing plays inspired by the diversity of a globalised world. A percentage of the proceeds of sales on the day were donated to Tamasha to support their future endeavours.
